Zeena Hernandez received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Utica College and her Master's degree from St. Paul University in the Philippines. She is a LSVT Big certified clinician and is currently in the process of getting certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and has presented her poster presentation in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation in a national conference. Zeena has 5 years of experience in different physical therapy settings and has treated various conditions including neurological, orthopedic and cardiopulmonary impairments. Recently, she was awarded Physical Therapist of the year 2018 by the Academy of Filipino-American Physical Therapists (AFAPT) for her contribution and commitment to service and excellence.
Zeena believes that the key to facilitating recovery from an injury is establishing a solid collaboration between therapist and client. She believes in not only treating a body part or the biomechanical aspect of an injury but the whole person. She empowers clients and patients by getting them mentally and physically ready to return to play or work.
She is passionate about health and wellness. She used to run half marathons until she discovered her love for barbell sports through Crossfit. Currently, she trains and competes as a 49kg lifter in Russian style Olympic weightlifting with Chasing Kilos in Brooklyn.
When not at the gym or clinic, she is usually at Prospect park strolling with her wife and 2 year old corgi, Queen Elizabeth aka “Liz”.
