Olufemi “Olu” Sonubi received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and his BS in Movement Science from CUNY York College. Olu is NSCA certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has experience in orthopedic, neurological, and acute inpatient Physical Therapy. He also holds certifications in IASTM, kinesiology taping, and is a certified stick mobility coach.
Olu believes that his habit of constant learning allows him to best treat his patients. Olu has been working in NYC as a health and fitness coach since 2008. He has helped clients achieve goals in many areas of fitness from pre-marathon strength and conditioning to general fat loss and health promotion. His clients include collegiate athletes to the weekend warrior recreational athlete. Olu believes that every client comes with a specific set of goals and that his job is to facilitate the process of his client getting to where they want to be.
Olu is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and helps speak to high school and undergraduate students from underserved neighborhoods about the profession of Physical Therapy. Additionally, Olu is a member of his local community garden East New York Farms.

Olu’s treatment approach emphasizes getting to the root of pain, while treating painful symptoms. He facilitates self-efficacy and an active treatment environment that empowers his patient to take action in their physical therapy / health and wellness journey. His treatment style places emphasis on decreasing biomechanical imbalances through manual therapy, kinesiotaping, and highly specific therapeutic exercise.
Olu is an avid exercise enthusiast and fills his need for physical activity through a daily gym regiment, bouldering, biking, hiking, and playing pickup basketball in NYC. When he is not getting active he is usually at East New York farms using his physical ability to help serve his community. In his free time, Olu enjoys home brewing pour over coffee, reading historical fiction novels, and listening to podcasts.
